Role of glycosphingolipids in Gaucher + Parkinson’s disease
Kerri’s research investigates the role glycosphingolipids (GSLs) in normal ageing and in disease. She has been involved in the GAUCHERITE study since 2015. The aim of this research is to guide therapy by predicting long-term risk in Gaucher disease (GD) patients. Her work focused on GD biomarkers particularly GSLs. Previous work has included investigating novel therapies for Sandhoff disease and Niemann-Pick C disease. Kerri’s current research focuses on Parkinson’s disease (PD), examining the connection between LSD-related enzyme deficiencies and GSL metabolism, and PD, and the potential of these as novel therapeutic targets.
